Understanding Pyelolithotomy
Pyelolithotomy is a surgical procedure used to remove kidney stones (renal calculi) that are located within the renal pelvis, the area where urine collects before entering the ureter. This procedure is typically recommended for larger kidney stones or stones that are causing blockages, infections, or severe pain and cannot be effectively treated with other non-invasive methods such as shock wave lithotripsy or ureteroscopy.
